Allrighty then - Instead of a "Mikey" bio, I'm going to give a "My Mustang History" bio...
My grandpa bought a 1967 Mustang from a d-bag who wrecked it in 1969. He and my dad (who was a teenager at the time) restored it to as good as possible for the
late 60's... Fast forward to the glorious year of ME being born and I hear stories of me as a baby dropping a penny in the steering column and frying the
electronics for the horn/blinkers/flashers... Ohh yes, this car was bound to be mine! Lol... Anyway fast forward again and dad will occasionally get the stang
out of the garage and start her up and maybe take me for a ride around the block BUT now I have my drivers permit. First thing I asked was if I could put a new
carburator on it. I bought one with my lawn mowing money and did. Then the brakes needed redone, so dad, my uncle and I took apart the vintage drums, gave em
new pads, etc. The car was my new responsibility which I took upon myself to take care of. Then one day, dad did it... He let ME drive the power steering-less
car to Mc Donalds (through the tight drive-thru no less) I remember grabbing the steering wheel and feeling the vibrations of the car course through my body
like I was part of it. Quite an awesome feeling, being a young boy driving a classic "Muscle Car." So through the years I grew up fixing things that
broke, upgrading various parts of the car; adding lights, changing exhaust, re-vamping the interior, yadda, yadda. All the while this amazing thing was
happening to me. The respect I had for this car and the blood-sweat-and tears I was putting into this car that both my dad and grandpa drove, was teaching me
to respect the things I own, helped me learn the value of a dollar and how to save my money for an ultimate goal, and made me responsible towards how I lived
my life...
To make a long story short -
Through high school, we cruised Sunrise Blvd. in this car. I met my girlfriend in this car. I love this car. THEN the enevitable happened. I got wrapped up in
going to college, work, and socializing ALL in this car. Doing so did a toll on the old bitty and I needed to get a reliable new car that I could count on for
these things. I bought myself a 05 F-150 on my B-day and set a new goal for the Mustang. She would become an Eleanor Coupe... With a twist of Mikey in it of
course ;-)
So here we stand today. Gone through 2 CRAPPY body shops, and the car is back home, in the garage, and getting cut, welded, grinded and awaiting fiberglass and
paint. It's been 2 years so far since the car has been out of commission. In 07 I decided to buy a house and while not a bad decision, it did cut a major
chunk of money out of the Eleanor funds. BUT - I work on her steadily and already made plans to marry my girlfriend Kelli when the car is done as it means so
much to both Kelli and I :-)
